Revelation 13:1-10, 17:8-14
He will reveal himself at the end of the times of the Gentiles (Daniel 8:23).
He will not come before the start of the Day of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 2:2).
He will only be revealed after "He who now restrains" is taken out of the way (2 Thessalonians 2:7-8).
His appearance will be preceded by apostasy (2 Thessalonians 2:3).
He will be a Gentile, because he "rises up out of the sea" (Revelation 13:1) which represents the nations (Revelation 17:15).
He will come out of people of the Roman empire, which destroyed Jerusalem (Daniel 9:26).
He will be at the head of the last form of world government, being like a lion, bear and leopard (Revelation 13:1 and compare it with Daniel 7:7-8, 20, 24 and Revelation 17:9-11), and therefore a political leader of ten countries (Revelation 13:1, 17:12).
He has authority over all nations (Revelation 13:7,8), through alliances made with them (Daniel 8:24, Revelation 17:12).
On rising to power, he will remove three heads of government (Daniel 7:8, 24).
One of the nations under his rule, having previously disappeared, will appear again (Revelation 13:3).
The growth of his power will be due to his peace programme (Daniel 8:25).
Personally, he will be distinguished for his intelligence and ability to persuade (Daniel 7:8, 20; 8:23, Revelation 17:13), as well as for his cunning (Daniel 8:25).
He will rule the nations in his federatioon with absolute authority (Daniel 11:36), doing just what he wants. This authority will manifest itself by changing the laws and customs (Daniel 7:25).
His primary interest is to achieve greatness and power for himself (Daniel 11:38).
As head of a federative empire he will make a seven-year treaty with Israel (Daniel 9:27) that he will break after three and a half years (Daniel 9:27).
He will introduce an idolatrous worship (Daniel 9:27) in which he represents himself as god (Daniel 11:36-37, 2 Thessalonians 2:4, Revelation 13:5).
He will assume the character of a blasphemer because he makes himself god (Ezekiel 28:2, Daniel 7:25, Revelation 13:1, 5-6).
His energy will come from Satan (Ezekiel 28:9-12; Revelation 13:4), he will receive his authority from him and will be moved by his pride (Ezekiel 28:2, Daniel 8:25).
He will lead the system of lawlessness of Satan (2 Thessalonians 2:3) and prove his right to power and divinity through signs obtained with satanic power (2 Thessalonians 2:9-19).
He will be welcomed as a god and as the supreme leader because of the blindness of the people (2 Thessalonians 2:11).
He will become the great enemy of Israel (Daniel 7:21, 25; 8:24, Revelation 13:7).
There will be an alliance against him (Ezekiel 28:7, Daniel 11:40, 42) challenging his authority.
In the ensuing conflict he will obtain control over the Holy Land and surrounding areas (Daniel 11:42) and will make his capital in Jerusalem (Daniel 11:45).
His access to power will be supported by the "great whore," the corrupt religious system, which will consequently seek to influence him (Revelation 17:3).
This religious system will be destroyed by him, to get rid of its interference (Revelation 17:16-17).
He will become the main adversary of the Prince of princes (Daniel 8:25), His programme (2 Thessalonians 2:4, Revelation 17:14), and His people (Daniel 7:21, 25, 8:24, Revelation 13:7).
He will be in power for seven years (Daniel 9:27), but his satanic activity will be limited to the second part of the tribulation period (Daniel 7:25, 9:27, 11:36, Revelation 13:5).
His government will end with a direct judgement from God (Ezekiel 28:6, Daniel 7:22, 26; 8:25, 9:27, 11:45, Revelation 19:19-20). This judgement will take place when he is engaged in a military campaign in Israel (Ezekiel 28:8-9, Revelation 19:19), and he will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20, Ezekiel 28:10).
The judgement will take place at the second coming of Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:8, Daniel 7:22) constituting a manifestation of His messianic authority (Revelation 11:15).
The kingdom over which he ruled will come under the authority of the Messiah and will become the kingdom of the saints (Daniel 7:27).
8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 "Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.
10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.
11 The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.
12 "The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.
13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.
14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful."
